Emergency Preparedness Training is the Best Way
to Protect Your Business, Staff, Customers and
their Pets.
As a pet hospitality business, employing staff that has compassion for pet guests is only the beginning. Because pets are welcomed into your facility and
entrusted to your care, it is responsible
practice to provide education and training for
facility staff in the proper handling of pets
and pet-related emergencies.
There is no 911 for pets. So ensuring
that all staff members are professionally trained in pet-lifesaving skills such
as the proper techniques of Pet First Aid & CPR can be a priceless benefit should a
crisis occur. When businesses fail to implement proper training, they are
exposing themselves to huge risks that can
have a damaging effect on
their business. Ask yourself these questions:
- Can your staff recognize physiological
signs of pet distress?
- Are your animal handlers 3rd-party certified in Pet First Aid & Animal
CPR?
- Do you have a documented facility plan for pets in case of a
fire or evacuation? Does your staff routinely exercise this
plan?
- In the event of a crisis, what will be communicated to
staff, first responders and customers?

ADVANCED TRAINING & SERVICES: (optional)
Pet First Aid Instructor Training is the most
comprehensive, 3-day, interactive program which teaches the
PetTech® PetSaver™ first aid methods. This advanced interactive
and hands-on course trains you to become a Certified PetTech®
Instructor. As a certified instructor, you have acquired the
skills to teach the PetSaver™: Pet CPR, First Aid, Senior Pet-Izen
& Dental Care Program to your staff or earn additional revenue
by offering public courses further promoting pet safety in your
community. Taught by our pet safety expert and Master Pet Tech
Instructor Ines de Pablo, this already comprehensive program
provides added value by her field experience in both human and
animal emergency care. All courses include training skills on
both stuffed and live dogs.
Vulnerability/Risk Assessments will be
conducted to determine your facility’s
vulnerabilities and establish which hazards your
business is most vulnerable to and likely to
encounter, whether natural and/or man made. This
step is the foundation block for your entire
Emergency Operations Plan.
Basic Pet Emergency Management Exercises (BPEME) include discussion-based exercises offered in a
Table-Top Exercise format allowing key personnel
to discuss in a classroom environment custom
simulated scenarios to assess plans, policies,
and procedures.
Intermediate Pet Emergency Management
Exercises (IPEME) are proactive
discussion-based exercises simulating
operations. Participants are separated in teams
and operate in a competitive manner to achieve a
pre-determined goal using rules, data, and
procedure designed to depict an actual or
assumed real-life situation.
Advanced Pet Emergency Management Exercises (APEME)
involve coordinated and supervised activities
aimed at testing specific operations or
functions within the organization (e.g., the pet
hotel conducts a gas leak drill, partial
structural failure drill, etc.). These
operations-based exercises can involve staff
and/or management depending on the scenarios.
Incident Command Direction and Control
Training is one of the most important
aspects of an emergency response plan. Someone
must be in charge in an emergency. The Wag'N
PETS Program will help create a protocol or
augment your existing system for managing
resources, analyzing information and making
decisions in an emergency.
Crisis Communications Training will
help you establish protocols to handle internal,
public and customer communication when disaster
strikes. Whether you operate in the private or
public domain, communications is critical and
the lack of which can be a death sentence to
your business, especially during an emergency.
Shelter-in-Place Planning covers
situations when it's best your staff and furry
customers remain on the facilities to avoid
outdoor emergency uncertainty (i.e. tornadoes,
chemical incident , etc). We work with you to
ensure that your communications (to staff and
customers), resources, warning system and
Business Emergency Operation Plans encompass
various scenarios.
Emergency Animal Transportation & Sheltering
Planning includes planning for the four
cycle phase, namely mobilization, pick up
points, transport, shelter intake. Understanding
and preparing for these issues is essential for
the development of individualized responses,
appropriate partnerships and securing needed
resources that can be assembled into a
comprehensive solution.
Fire Extinguisher Training is designed to
provide your business with the fire protection
it deserves. The training satisfies OSHA
1910.157 and abides by NFPA Standard 10 to help
you meet the law while protecting lives and
guarding against costly fire damage. This
training has 2 components: classroom training
and live fire demonstration in which each
employee is supervised with a hands-on
application in which they will properly
extinguish a live fire.
