
TECHNICAL SWIFTWATER RESCUE - Rescue 3
Certification Course
This is a professional 3-day Swiftwater Rescue
Technician Course that offers the best training
available. This course provides rescuers is a
mandatory training level for inclusion on a
Federal Emergency Management Agency Swiftwater/Flood
Search and Rescue Team at all Team levels. This
course teaches the fundamentals of survival in
moving water and is recommended for anyone who
may be called upon to for in-water rescues.
Students of this course will gain knowledge in
hydrology and river classifications, size-up,
site control and scene management. Practical
skills include self-rescue, swiftwater swimming
and the fundamentals of shore, boat and in-water
rescues. Additionally students are introduced to
the basics of boat handling and the fundamentals
of rope rescue including mechanical advantage
and anchor systems.
The Swiftwater Rescue Technician is suitable
for all adults, trained or untrained. The 3-day
course is 1 day of classroom
instruction and 2 days in the field. This
course and will teach skills such as:

This is a professional Rescue 3 Certification
Course that meets or exceeds all the guidelines
set forth by the National Fire Protection Agency
[NFPA 1670]. This course also exceeds the
requirements of FEMA, USAR, and NIMS typing.
